The condos are located in the heart of downtown Cotacachi, within a block of the main square. There are a multitude of shops, restaurants, 2 open markets, a bus station, and banks within easy walking distance. Taxis are cheap and plentiful. There is street parking just outside the condos. All four of these high-end condos feature a modern, spacious, fully equipped kitchen, open dining and living room areas, and spacious bedrooms with ample closet space. In 2016, my husband saw an ad in a newsletter online for a ‘Condo For Sale’ in Cotacachi. After contacting the lawyer handling the sale, we learned that this was a 2 bedroom, 2 bath, unfinished condo located on the third floor of a building with a commercial business located on the ground floor. The views from every window were terrific! We put down a deposit the next day, planning to use the condo for a turnkey short-term rental, and staying there several times a year ourselves. We first visited Ecuador in 2012. On that visit, we went south to Guayaquil and Salinas. In 2015 we returned to Ecuador, staying in Quito. We took a one-day-tour of the surrounding areas, which included Cotacachi.
This small mountain town captured our hearts immediately! We loved the scenic views at every turn – low-lying clouds, the rolling mountainous farmland, the vibrant culture, the shops and restaurants.
Cotacachi has a warm, relaxed, welcoming feel. The children are beautiful, the locals pleasant and friendly. Much of the architecture is quite old and beautiful. It is a community with a long and colorful history.
