We first visited Ecuador in 2012. On that visit, we went south to Guayaquil and Salinas. In 2015 we returned to Ecuador, staying in Quito. We took a one-day-tour of the surrounding areas, which included Cotacachi.
This small mountain town captured our hearts immediately! We loved the scenic views at every turn – low-lying clouds, the rolling mountainous farmland, the vibrant culture, the shops and restaurants.
Cotacachi has a warm, relaxed, welcoming feel. The children are beautiful, the locals pleasant and friendly. Much of the architecture is quite old and beautiful. It is a community with a long and colorful history.
