Rates and Further Details

The monthly rate for any of the condos is $750.00.

A 2-week stay is $400.00

A 3-week stay is $550.00

The first month's rent or any lessor time of stay will be due at the time of booking ($750.00, or as noted above).

There is a fully refundable ($500.00) deposit, which is due not less than 30 days prior to the day of arrival. The deposit will be returned within 14 days after checkout, less damages. There is also a one-time cleaning fee of $50.00 (the condo is cleaned before your arrival and after your departure).

Cancellation policy: 50% of the first month's rent is refundable up until 60 days prior to arrival. A full refund based on a documented medical reason for cancellation is always negotiable.

We have a 'No Pets' policy throughout the property, as well as 'No Smoking or Vaping'

Our property manager is Rafael. He is a great resource for you. He speaks excellent English, and in addition to setting you up in one of our condos, he can arrange taxi service for you from the Quito airport to Cotacachi and back (The one way cost is $65 during the day, and $70 after 10 p.m. and in the early morning).

Raphael’s family has a tourism business, and he can arrange travel to any surrounding areas you would like to visit. He will need your flight information, the number of guests travelling, and the number and type of luggage pieces you are taking. He will also need to check your passport for identification.

Please let me know when you are ready to book a reservation, or if you would like me to put one of the condos on 'hold' for you for a week while you finalize your travel plans. Within the States, the easiest and cheapest way to send funds is with Zelle. There are no wire fees, and you just transfer the funds to the recipient account. I will send you the account information upon request.

After you have booked your stay and made your deposit, I will ask for a scan of the passports of all guests who will be staying in the condo. This is for security and tax accounting regulations. You will be sent a lease to review and have signed by all guests. After it is returned to me, you will receive a signed copy.
We are also listed on Airbnb for your convenience. If you prefer, you can book directly through Airbnb. There is then no contract to be signed with me, and Airbnb will take care of your security deposit and add the cleaning fee. We will still be in contact, and can help you with transportation from the airport, and will set up your contact with Rafael.

Options to Pay for Your Rental in Cotacachi

This will entail a fee charged by your bank, which may be as much as $30.00 USD. If you wish to do this kind of payment, email me at

Popmoney:

This appears to be the least expensive and easiest to use. You can use your bank account or debit card at popmoney.com or via their mobile app. You will have to register and set up an account to use this service. To actually send the money, tell popmoney who you want to pay, and how much. Use our email, escape2cotacachi@gmail.com. This generally takes 1-3 business days. The fee to send money is $0.95 USD. If you use a debit card, the limit is $500.00 USD. If you use a bank account, the daily limit is $2,000.00 USD.

Residents of Canada and other countries:

While your local bank branch might be the most obvious option for sending money across borders, you can save on fees and take advantage of more competitive exchange rates with an online money transfer company. To transfer money to the U.S., you will need to:

Compare some services that can send your money in USD.
Choose one and sign up for an account.
Provide the details of your transfer, including the amount and who you want to send it to.
Confirm and pay.
Bank wire transfer from your bank to our bank.

This can cost anywhere from $30.00-70.00 USD or equivalent. Contact us for our bank details.

Transferwise.com. You will have to register and open an account, or use their mobile app. Costs will vary depending on the amount sent, and the currency being exchanged. (for example, as of Dec. 18, 2019, to send $650.00 USD from Canada, this would require 860 CAD; total fees would be 10.33 CAD). Check for further details regarding other currencies and current exchange rates.
Worldremit.com. A similar service to transferwise.com that will convert your currency to USD and send it to our bank for a small fee.

For Payments on a Reservation of More Than 1 Month:

CASH - The Ecuador monetary system is based on the US dollar. You may pay in cash in Cotacachi, but please remember to use nothing larger than a USD $50.00 bill! (they prefer $20.00 bills - USD $100.00 bills are not universally accepted in Ecuador).
For payments which are due after you are in Cotacachi, you can also use any of the above detailed methods of payment.
